Apparently you don't have a clue as to who Chris Wunder actually is. I would bet you $10,000 that he could run circles around you and your photo business. BTW - 99.9% of the local photographer out there outsource to photo labs - just like life touch does! All of their processing and printing goes to one lab. Most of their photographers are cookie-cutter trainees - not professionally trained like 99% of the 'local' photographers. Here's my advice to you, Nick - You just showed us that you're the small fish in the very big pond. Because if you were any bigger you would actually know who the real sharks are!! Crawl back under your ego we really don't need your kind out here in the real world! |

The larger outfits can provide more to the schools and districts then the local photographers can. Let me guess, you own a studio and think that school photography is the same thing. Right??? It's a completely different. The days of providing just a picture are over. Everything is about $$$. Billion dollar companies can out bid just about anyone else. And saying that you are local is a joke. You may live in the same city but unless you do all your own processing you are just outsourcing to another company. And I'm sure they aren't local. Heres my advice. Stay in your studio and get what you can from seniors and families. It seems you are a very small fish in a very larg pond. |
| 3. Written by Chris Wunder on January 20, 2012 from charlotte, north carolina, US Parents don't complain loud or long enough. I'm in the School Photography business myself and I know from experience that most Parent complaints never make it back to the decision makers. They think everything is A-OK, so they continue to re-book with the same company every year. I'm a big believer that LOCAL photographers who have the specialized training to do this kind of work should be given some preference in the hiring decision; but schools seem to go with the "devil you know" rather than giving a quality consious local photographer a chance. Want change? COMPLAIN HARDER! |
